Chinmaya Balaniketan-a home for the homeless- at Kalliad Kannur is Pujya Gurudev’s Birth Centenary project of CMECT Kannur. It is an endeavour to join hands with individuals, families, business and industrial houses to build a home for 100 children from the economically weaker section of the society to provide them a friendly and conducive atmosphere for their education from Class VIII to XII in the age group of 12- 17 years, where they can enjoy a healthy family environment responding to their growing and varying needs.

While ensuring the best educational facilities, Chinmaya Balaniketan will also provide them facilities and opportunities for the development of their skills and natural talents in studies and sports enabling them to grow as good citizens.
At Balaniketan, they will also be encouraged and assisted to undergo vocational training to enable them get jobs and generate learning capabilities.
To ensure a homely atmosphere, 10 independent cottages are planned to be built in the lush green 10 acre plot at Kalliad, Irikkur, Kannur, near the Chinmaya Rural Dispensary. People of this area have been receiving medical aid from Chinmaya Rural Dispensary since 1985.
Each cottage will accommodate 8 children in the age group of 12 to 17 years under the care of a house mother.
Chinmaya Balaniketan was inaugurated on 5th Sept.2016 by Smt.P.K.Sreemathy, Member of Parliament.
We have completed the construction of Four separate Cottages which can accommodate 8 students and a Resident Tutor/Warden. During the current academic year, we are admitting only 8 students( boys only) to Class VIII and we ensure their education upto Class XII.
